Faithful Unto Death

Revelation 2:9-11 (AMP)

I know your affliction and distress and pressing trouble and your poverty--but you are rich! and how you are abused and reviled and slandered by those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Fear nothing that you are about to suffer. [Dismiss your dread and your fears!] Behold, the devil is indeed about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested and proved and critically appraised, and for ten days you will have affliction. Be loyally faithful unto death [even if you must die for it], and I will give you the crown of life. He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). He who overcomes (is victorious) shall in no way be injured by the second death.

Listen defined:
• To pay attention to something and take it into account.

Many times we hear God but are we listening with the intent to do. In order to be faithful one must first hear instruction. How can a person be faithful or loyal if they won’t listen? Faithfulness is partner to passion. If a person is not passionate about a cause they are generally not faithful to it. When a husband or wife lose their passion or excitement about each other and their marriage vows they will soon become unfaithful. When a person is passionate about something it usually is a priority to them. When something is priority you will fight for it. God said you would be willing to die for it. The cause of Christ is a greater priority then our feeling during a time of persecution or suffering.
Faithfulness is a fruit of the spirit therefore it cannot be accomplished in the flesh. The bible says that the flesh profits nothing. A person can never be faithful to anything or anybody apart from God. God enables us by His grace to be faithful unto death. That’s why when people make promises out of their flesh thy soon renege.

I believe being faithful unto death speaks more than just about physical death. I believe it is also speaking of dying to self in order to be faithful to God. We must deny fleshly desires and lust and cleave to God. We must be faithful to God above our feelings and selfish thoughts and ways. Jesus said if any man will come after me let him first deny himself, take up his cross and follow me. When something is important to us we will chose it over other things. Jesus said if you love me keep my commandments. How can we say that we love God or others when we habitually are unfaithful to them? Unfaithfulness is a characteristic of love of self or selfishness.

We must be willing to suffer for godliness rather than deny Christ. There is nothing we could go through or suffer on this earth that would be worth being unfaithful to Him.

God knows our struggles here on the earth and therefore He has given us access to everything we need to win in this life.

2Peter 1:3-4
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Remember to be faithful to the one who has never been unfaithful to you! God is forever faithful.

Pardon Me, Do You Have the Time?

If someone would walk up to you and ask you the question, "Do you have the time" what would be your response? Would you look down at your wrist and notice and reply: "Sorry, I don't do watches" (by the way the Bible says to watch and pray)? Or would you just ignore them altogether and keep walking on your merry way?

Time defined:
• an appointed, fixed, or customary moment or hour for something to happen, begin, or end
• an opportune or suitable moment
• a historical period : AGE

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Well it’s about time..."

Well in all honesty maybe it is. The Bible actually says, “It is high time.” That doesn’t mean we should all run out and get high on drugs. That means this is a crucial moment in history...it is an urgent window of opportunity...it is now time! It means we must act and we must do it now! High time is red alert! It is no more excuses, no more fooling around time. It is "let’s get down to business" time. Do you get the picture, my friend?

Romans 13:11-12
Besides this you know what [a critical] hour this is, how it is high time now for you to wake up out of your sleep (rouse to reality). For salvation (final deliverance) is nearer to us now than when we first believed (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Christ, the Messiah). The night is far gone and the day is almost here. Let us then drop (fling away) the works and deeds of darkness and put on the [full] armor of light.

We must realize what an awesome moment in the history of God’s church that we live in. We must take full advantage of the opportunity we have to be His witnesses and demonstrate His power and love. It is high time to show the world what a good and mighty God we have. It is time to display the goodness of God in the land of the living.

What time do you have? Is your schedule too full? Is there any time left in your busy day to give God some say in your agenda? Are you making time for His will to be revealed in your life or are you making excuses? What time do you have for miracles? What time do you have for mercy and salvation in the lives of the lost? What time do you have to feed the hungry and give water to the thirsty soul that says, "What time do you have, ma’am? What time do you have, sir? Can I stop you for just a moment and take a few minutes of your time? Please don’t be anger with me I just need to know do you have the time?"

Angels Watching Over Me

Exodus 23:20-22

Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.

God has a prepared plan for every life. The plan that God has for your life is strategic and significant to Him. The path that God has set you in is so valuable, He sent an angel to go before you to help assure that you reach your destinies end. Hebrews 1:14 declares this about angels, “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Praise God we, Christians, are those heirs of salvation!

When Paul’s life was threatened in the midst of the sea, God sent an angel.

Acts 27:23-25
For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

On our God given journeys here in the earth we will meet up with many adverse situations and enemy forces but God will always be with us to be our fortress and our shield, He is our MIGHTY DELIVERER. He said if you will obey my words then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries. There is no force or power greater than our God, He is the Almighty God.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. (Psalms 24:7-8)

Our God is an awesome God, there is none like Him. He is Omniscient (All knowing), Omnipotent (All powerful), He is undefeatable.

Enemy defined:
• Somebody who hates or seeks to harm somebody or something.
• A person or group, especially a military force, that fights against another in combat or battle.

In God’s kingdom His word is law. When He speaks it is settled, no voting, no arguments, no nothing… it is what it is. The enemy is a law breaker. He is a thief and a robber. He is a murderer and a swindler. He is a violator and a trespasser. He is in rebellion against God and His kingdom. He is vile and evil to the core. Yet in the midst of all of his darkness and rage he is 100% defeated. Jesus defeated him over 2000 years ago when He declared it is finished on that cross then rose from the dead, triumphantly.

Although Satan is defeated he still roams the earth seeking whom he may devour. But thank God, Satan can’t devour whomever he wants, only those who will not resist him through Christ.
God has done everything He will ever do about the devil, now we must maintain our victory through obedience to His word. When we live a life of obedience to God we are assured protection, provision, wisdom, health, and strength etc, everything we have need of to fulfill our God given destinies and live victoriously. As we walk close with God and remain in the path He has prepared for us, attentively listening and obeying His word, God rises up and becomes an enemy to our enemies and an adversary to our adversaries. He will never leave you nor forsake you, so don't fear or be alarmed by the terror of the enemy, just know he has no power over you or me. Trust in God and you will see His power go before you valiantly.

Psalms 91:1
HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].

Grace

2 Timothy 1:9

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Grace will get you to the place of your destiny. God will never bring you to the birth and refuse to deliver. We must press, but not with our own human strength. We must press through grace. God's grace is His ability. His ability enables us to do the unnatural--what is beyond our human ability. Grace is God working in us and for us. We must depend on this grace. We must embrace this grace. God's grace is sufficient for all things.

The Master Has Need of You

Mark 11:1-3

And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples, And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him. And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.

I want you to see this picture in your mind, there sat a colt tied probably to a tree or something strong enough to keep it from getting away. There was probably nothing special about the way he looked, the color of his hair, the shape of his body, the way he walked, he was just a normal, average everyday colt, ……...to the untrained eye. However, Jesus knew he was there, Jesus knew that that colt had a divine purpose. That colt had a part to play in God’s plan and no part of His plan, not even the smallest detail is insignificant to God. That colt was getting ready to fulfill destiny. He was getting ready to walk into what he was born for. The scripture said no one had ever even sat on this colt, Glory to God! He was just sitting there all tied up until Jesus spoke and said loose him and bring him to Me. Without God’s voice life is meaningless and mundane, it is fruitless and stagnant, it is wasteful and dry. That kind of reminds me of our lives before we were born again, there we sat in darkness all tied up until Jesus called our name and set our Divine Destiny into motion. He called us out of darkness into the marvelous light; He established our going and gave us understanding of our purpose. Jesus made it plain, He said if any man say unto you, “why do ye this?” say the Lord hath need of him. Did you not know that when God calls you unto Himself, He has need of you. You were not called into the Kingdom of God just to sit and look pretty/handsome; the Lord hath need of you. God needs the gifts and anointings He has put inside of you for the fulfillment of His plan. You are vital and strategically placed in the body of Christ; you have a part to play, you have been loosed for the Masters use. God knows the treasure that He has placed inside of you and He wants it to be in full operation for all to profit.

Many time people don’t benefit from others gifts and talents because they are too busy looking at the outward man. They don’t value the treasure God has placed in each and every one of His children therefore they forfeit the blessing that persons gift could have added to their life. Jesus valued the colts God given assignment and loosed him to fulfill it.

Competitive jealousy and fleshly comparisons bring division and destruction to what could have been a wonderful union of divine relationships. Divine relationships always bring an element of, “I have need of you and you have need of me.” There is a peaceful understanding that God brought us together to help one another fulfill His will. I like something that Paul said in 1 Corinthians 3:6-8, “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.”
The rope that uses to keep you tied to the fence of “I can’t” is broken; you have been loosed by God to fulfill His purpose. So jump to it, you can do it, in Christ Jesus. Remember the Master have need of YOU!

Spiritual Apathy

Ephesians 4:19-24(AMP)

In their spiritual apathy they have become callous and past feeling and reckless and have abandoned themselves [a prey] to unbridled sensuality, eager and greedy to indulge in every form of impurity [that their depraved desires may suggest and demand]. But you did not so learn Christ! Assuming that you have really heard Him and been taught by Him, as [all] Truth is in Jesus [embodied and personified in Him], Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old unrenewed self] which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion; And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God's image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness.

Apathy defined:
• Lack of interest in anything, or the absence of any wish to do anything.

Similar words to apathy are indifference, lack of concern, lack of interest, lethargy, laziness, and boredom.

Ephesians chapter 4 is a very stern, sobering message preached from the heart of the Apostle Paul to Christians. It is to be noted that Paul was not ministering to the world but rather to the Church of God. This chapter invokes a need for self examination on the deepest level. This is not a message that you just want to skim over and refuse to give an opportunity for soul searching. In this chapter Paul addresses the subject of spiritual apathy. Spiritual apathy is a very critical, life threatening, over-all dangerous condition to be in. Spiritual apathy is an attribute of the flesh or the nature of sin. Paul tells us that this former characteristic of the old nature should have been stripped off of us who are now born again. Spiritual apathy is of the old un-renewed self, the corrupt nature of sin passed down from the first Adam. Paul goes on to say that we who are Christ should be constantly renewed in the spirit of our mind. This also makes us aware that if we are not renewing our minds then we can slip back into the un-renewed state of mind. Paul said we must put on the new nature. This must be done on purpose and is accomplished as we renew our mind with the word of God. Romans 12:1-2 says, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

This does not just automatically happen just because you are a Christian. We must be the one to present our bodies and on purpose renew our mind so that we can be transformed, God doesn’t make us do it. When we don’t take the time to renew our minds in the word of God then we open ourselves to regress into the un-renewed self. An un-renewed mind has no interest in the things of God. An un-renewed mind is indifferent to prayer. An un-renewed mind is selfish and unyielding to the love of God. An un-renewed mind is drawn to worldly pleasures. An un-renewed mind is idle and open to demonic suggestion. An un-renewed mind is easily swayed and tempted by sin. An un-renewed mind does not think on things that are honest, lovely, just and of a good report. An un-renewed mind is hostile toward the things of God and the people of God.

Paul admonishes us in the scriptures above to have a renewed mind; a fresh mental and spiritual attitude. This involves keeping a constant supply of the word of God flowing through your spirit, soul and body. You cannot have a fresh mental and spiritual attitude if you only fed on the word of God every now and then. You will have a very stinky attitude just like if you only washed your physical body every now and then. The bible says that the word of God cleanses us. John 15:3 and Ephesians 5:26.

So stay fresh and clean! It is very offensive to be around people who have B.O. or we can say S.O. (spiritual odor). Don’t allow yourself to be spiritually apathetic; it is a dangerous place to sleep.

Labor of Love

1 Thessalonians 1:3

Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

The labor of Love is a work of the spirit that is well pleasing to God. When we think of Love, we don’t generally think of it in terms of work or labor. The scripture here in Thessalonians describes Love as labor.

Now, many times people consider the word labor to be a negative word. A word associated with pain and strenuous effort. They see it as hard work and struggle.

The word labor defined:

• The supply of work or workers for a particular job, industry, or employer.

• Work done using the strength of the body.

I like the term supply of work; to me, it implies giving of what you already have. When you give and do your part out of the supply that you already have, it takes the struggle out. God does not expect us to do anything in our own strength. He supplies all our needs so that we can work in love. Labor of Love speaks boldly to us that Love is our business or work while we are here on the earth. Everything we do should be born out of the Love of God.

The term strength of the body in the definition above caught my attention in that labor should be a unified force. Every member of the body doing their part working together for the cause of Christ. When every part is doing its work of faith and labor of love it produces a greater ease, a quicker and more efficient work.

So as you work for the Kingdom of God today remember it is a Labor of Love employed by Love.
