Be True to Yourself

In a world that everything has become acceptable and blindly tolerable, you must decide and take a stand for what is permissible for you. Be true to yourself by choosing the only standard that will bring a favorable eternal outcome. Being true to yourself means being honest in your own heart. If you are not up to par in your walk with God then just admit it then make the adjustments and grow up and move forward. We all know it is miserable to be out of the will of God. Many times you can see the distress and void on people’s faces. They pretend to be having a good time (spiritually and naturally). They smile yet all the while they are kicking against the pricks of their God given destiny. They try to engage in vain amusements and mind cluttering activities so they won’t have to think about the sorrow and emptiness that press daily on their hearts.

Being true to one self means to stop the facade and get off the roller coaster of worldliness. It means getting down to business with you. It means pointing your own finger in your own face and saying stop, no more pretenses, it’s all or nothing, I choose to go forward.
Being true to yourself means staying with your decision to obey God no matter what anybody else chooses to do.

Being true to yourself means stepping back and letting God take the lead in your life. We can do nothing without God, yet we can do all things through Him.

Make the decision that today is your day, to be true to yourself and begin living the blessed life that Jesus purchased for you!

The Fruit is in the Seed

Genesis 1:11

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so

God created fruit trees to yield fruit after its kind. The fruit trees seed is within itself. A seed is a very significant part of a plant. Seeds have everything they will ever become within its self. Roots are produced and come forth out of the seed and anchor the entire plant or tree.

Root defined:
• The part of a plant that has no leaves or buds and usually spreads underground, anchoring the plant and absorbing water and nutrients from the soil.

Jesus said, “For there is no good (healthy) tree that bears decayed (worthless, stale) fruit, nor on the other hand does a decayed (worthless, sickly) tree bear good fruit. For each tree is known and identified by its own fruit; for figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor is a cluster of grapes picked from a bramblebush. The upright (honorable, intrinsically good) man out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart produces what is upright (honorable and intrinsically good), and the evil man out of the evil storehouse brings forth that which is depraved (wicked and intrinsically evil); for out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks. (Luke 6:43-45 AMP).

Words are seeds and are impregnated with life or death. Once spoken they quickly look for soil to begin germination and root permeation. The seed must be watered and nurtured in order for the shell of the seed to be broken to let the inner life of the seed come out. The seed will only produce what is in it, no surprises, oops or mistakes, it is what it is. If we have undesirable fruit in our lives it is because somewhere along the way a seed was sown that contained the results you now see. The roots of the seed is what sustains the whole plant, if the roots are destroyed the plant will die. God told Jeremiah that He put His words in his mouth to root out, pull down, destroy and throw down, but also to build and plant. God’s word is the only thing qualified to uproot seeds of death and destruction, yet at the same time build and plant the good will of God.

So begin to be selective about the words or seeds you allow to be planted in your heart and mind because they will produce a harvest; good or bad.

Make the Cook Smile

Psalms 23:5

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

In the 23rd Psalms, the psalmist speaks of a table. It was not just any old table but a prepared table. When someone prepares something, they generally are expecting someone to show up or something to happen. The psalmist made it clear that the one who was doing the preparing was the Shepherd.

The word prepare is defined as; to take the necessary action to put something into a state where it is fit for use or action, or for a particular event or purpose.

It is very obvious to those who know the Lord and are familiar with His character and nature that He is not a haphazard God. God is very orderly and organized. God never just throws things together and hope it all works out alright. Everything God does has purpose, power, and passion. Therefore, when we think of a table that has been prepared by God, we must think and imagine on a higher level. We must consider who is preparing this table and the resources that they have to do what they are doing.

Now, there are people in this world who have lots of money and earthly resources but they don’t have the nature of God. God is an extravagant giver. He is not stingy nor is He greedy. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. God’s resources and supplies are unlimited; they are inexhaustible.
God is gracious and always looking for ways to bless and overflow people’s lives with abundance. God is Love and Love manifests itself through giving. God is never selfish; He is not trying to hoard things for Himself.

The scripture declares that the Shepherd prepares a table before you. Now, notice it doesn’t say "He prepares a table and sits you at the table". No, it says "He prepares a table before you". This could mean either that He is getting it ready as you are looking or that He put an already prepared table right in front of you.

In the natural, when you are expecting a guest for dinner, you prepare the table with your guest in mind. You particularly pay attention to what they like and also in love, what they need. The table that God prepares for us is right before us. It’s not hidden or covered...it's right there. Now, He is putting this table in front of you so that you can benefit from what’s on it. But if you never go sit down and start partaking of its bounty, you will only be a spectator. We can shout about the table, dance about the table, tell other people how pretty the table is, yet never sit down and enjoy what’s on the table ourselves.

Whatever God puts on your table is for you. Because the Shepherd knows His sheep, your table is stacked just for you. When you sit down at your table, you will never need to look across the room to see if your neighbor got more or better things than you. The Good Shepherd will always provide lavishly for each and every sheep. There may even be something’s you see on your table that you may think surely the Shepherd has made a mistake this should be on so and so’s table not your table. But rest assured God knows exactly what He has put on your table. So don’t fret, just dig right in and start eating. Know that everything on that table is for you and that it is good.

Make sure that you don’t get distracted by your enemies that are standing around watching you partake from your table. Don’t let fear or intimidation stop you from eating. Don’t let guilt harass you into the sense realm. It will have you saying things like, “But I feel bad about prospering right in front of them and they are just standing there with nothing.” The enemy of guilt and shame will use manipulation and pity to try and make you get up from your table and serve them. God is no respecter of persons, if they are truly God’s sheep, the best thing you can do for them is to tell them to stop staring at you and go over to their own table and enjoy the things God has prepared for them.

Don’t wait for the people next to you to start eating before you start. Although that is a human courtesy, it has nothing to do with your spiritual supply. We honor God when we scoot up to the table and enjoy what he has placed before us. He has prepared and begin to dig in by faith and enjoy all that He has prepared.

There is nothing like seeing someone who is hungry set down at a table you have prepared for them and they just make themselves at home, enjoy every bite with a smile. These are those who don’t mind asking for second helpings and you always know they will be back because they were satisfied at the table. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good, you’ll always come back for more.
It makes the cook smile!

Seeking God

1 Chronicles 28:9

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

True wisdom flows from the heart of kings. David gave Solomon his son great wisdom for his relationship with God. David was a man after God’s heart. David knew some things that pleased God so He lovingly imparted what he knew to his own son. When we have children we want them to have the best in life. We want them to experience the good and not the bad. We try to keep them from going through the things we had to go through by imparting wisdom to them. David knew that God required us to serve Him with a perfect and willing heart. Our hearts must be free from impurities or things that would hinder our serve to God. God knows all hearts and He sees every imagination and thought. We must seek to keep our thoughts and imaginations clean and pure, God sees all and knows all.

This scripture lets us know that if we seek God He will be found of us. God is not hiding Himself from us because He doesn’t want us to find Him; God wants us to find Him. God loves to be sought out. When we seek God we will not be disappointed. You know how sometimes you begin to search for something because somebody told you how good the product was however when you found it, it was not worth the hunt. When we seek God we will find Him to be well worth the pursuit.

God Sees Not As Man Sees

1 Samuel 16:7

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Speak to the spirit of a man, Life, and he will rise to his place of king-ship and priesthood. See a man after the flesh (natural-man), and you become an accomplice to his downfall and destruction.
Samuel was a prophet who was called and anointed by God to speak for Him. Prophets in that day and time were called seers, meaning they knew things about the future that most people did not know. The prophets that were lead of God knew what they knew because God would reveal it to them. They were not demon influenced like the soothsayers, clairvoyants, fortune-tellers and psychic.

God had sent Samuel on an assignment for Him to anoint the next king of Israel, who was to be David, one of the sons of Jesse. Now, Samuel went forth and began doing what the Lord instructed him to do. He was in the right place, at the right moment and all was in line with God’s command. Now for whatever reason Samuel decided to second guess God, as if he knew God’s thoughts better than he really did. Samuel veered from the path of being lead by God with one single sense lead thought. He judged God’s instruction after the flesh. He allowed his natural eye sight and human prejudices to influence his judgment. He was probably basing his decision from cultural influences and traditions, which would have probably been permissible if this were not kingdom business? God’s kingdom does not operate like natural earthly kingdoms; God’s kingdom is God ruled no if’s ands or buts’ about it. God makes all the decisions, rules, standards, and choices in His kingdom, that settles it.

We must never assume we know what God is going to say next, we must learn to wait on the Lord and lean not to our own understanding. Samuel could have made a tragic error in the history of a nation by choosing the wrong king. This could have been catastrophic and resulted in years of sorrow and needless pain for Israel had God not intervened and spoke to the prophet. It is a good thing that Samuel was an obedience prophet, one who feared God and sought to hear and do His will. Even when we error if our heart is tender toward God to do the right thing God will always help us get back in His perfect will.

God interrupted Samuel’s erroneous thought process by revealing to Him that He did not see the way man sees………………..thank you Jesus! I am so glad God is God, and we are not. God said to Samuel, “for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”
Isn’t that the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth! People many times, unlike the nature and character of God, judge others by what they see on the outside. These judgments are most oftentimes influenced by past experiences, traditions, culture etc. Some people’s lives are totally destroyed just because of human judgment. People have lived and died and missed their entire destinies just because they listened to the wrong opinion concerning their future. Words can produce life or death, blessing or cursing, choose them wisely.

God taught the prophet Samuel and us, a very valuable lesson that day. If God started the journey you are on, let Him finish it, allow Him to reveal to you each step along the way and every word to say. Don’t jump ahead or lag to far behind, keep up and stay in step with God’s mind. He will be sure to guide us and help us finish our course and every assignment on time.

The Perfect Fruit

God is expecting much fruit from our lives. He has imparted love into our hearts and love is saturated with life producing soil. Love is the perfect medium for good fruit to grow, thrive and multiply. Love will never produce evil things; hatred, strife, jealousy, insecurity, pride, bitterness etc. Love will never give birth to spiritual death and decay. Love will always produce fruit that will glorify God. Love will never go against the will of God. Love will always side with God no matter the latest popular opinion. Love will always offer up the most holy sacrifices and praise. Love will always honor God.

Love's fruit is easily ingested without harmful side effects. God can trust the fruit that comes from love because it is a product of Himself. Love produces after it's own kind. Love will never produce off-spring that looks like the world, flesh or devil.
Jesus said you will know a tree by the fruit it bears. Love leaves no question as to who it's Father is. The fruit of love is genuine, never phony.

Jesus said God chose us to bear fruit that would remain. God has faith in love, He knows it will never compromise. Love will not settle for less than what God promised. Love will not negotiate with the enemy when the pressures of life come. God knows that what ever is produced from love will remain and it will be faithful to glorify Him forever. God knows Love's fruit won't turn sour and putrefy after a few years but will remain luscious and pleasing year after year after year.

Labor of Love

1 Thessalonians 1:3

Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

The labor of Love is a work of the spirit that is well pleasing to God. When we think of Love, we don’t generally think of it in terms of work or labor. The scripture here in Thessalonians describes Love as labor.

Now, many times people consider the word labor to be a negative word. A word associated with pain and strenuous effort. They see it as hard work and struggle.

The word labor defined:

• The supply of work or workers for a particular job, industry, or employer.

• Work done using the strength of the body.

I like the term supply of work; to me, it implies giving of what you already have. When you give and do your part out of the supply that you already have, it takes the struggle out. God does not expect us to do anything in our own strength. He supplies all our needs so that we can work in love. Labor of Love speaks boldly to us that Love is our business or work while we are here on the earth. Everything we do should be born out of the Love of God.

The term strength of the body in the definition above caught my attention in that labor should be a unified force. Every member of the body doing their part working together for the cause of Christ. When every part is doing its work of faith and labor of love it produces a greater ease, a quicker and more efficient work.

So as you work for the Kingdom of God today remember it is a Labor of Love employed by Love.
