Get Your Focus Back

Thank you for taking the time to invest in your future by ingesting some vital nutrients from the Word of God. My prayer for you is that as you read and meditate on what God is saying to you through these scriptures you will be enlightened by the Holy Spirit and receive strength for your journey.

God the Father says to us, Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. (Isaiah 41:10)

So be encouraged, you are chosen and loved of God – He will not fail you!

Now my friend, today I would like to talk to you about getting your focus back. It is so very vital that you understand God’s plan and purpose for your life. Your life is valuable to God and to those in whom He has entrusted to you to cross their paths in this life. However, what you choose to focus your attention on from day to day can determine how your life will turn out even though God has a specific plan, just for you. A vision without focus is generally an accident waiting to happen.

 Focus defined:
·        The center of interest or activity
·        An act of concentrating interest or activity on something

As you can see from the above definition, focus is what captures (imprisons) your attention. It is the center piece of the table of your life. No matter what angle you look at your life this interest, thing, person, place, thoughts, imaginations, affection etc. has become the center of your concentration.

So let me ask you a few questions:
1.      What have you been concentrating on in your life?
2.      Has it caused you to drift away from God’s original instructions for your life?
3.      How often do you think and/or meditate on it?
4.      The things that currently have the majority of your attention and affection are they causing you to draw nearer to God or is it  stealing time from your relationship with God?

Focus can be powerfully life changing. Focus can cause you to succeed or fail.

The bible teaches us to focus our attention on specific things, this does not mean you won’t be able to glance at other things as you travel life’s journey. However focus is a more deliberate, intense, single-mindedness kind of approach to something rather than just merely glancing at something from time to time. The bible instructs us;

Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:1-3

From these scriptures we see that focus is something we must practice. Continued practice eventually makes habits, good or bad. Habits help establish how we conduct our everyday lives. Habits are the things we do on a regular basis, sometimes without even thinking about it. We don’t just happen to focus on something or someone, it becomes intentional. Focus is trained behavior, purposeful activity.

We must deliberately direct our thoughts and affections toward God’s plans, it doesn’t just happen by mere coincidence.

Spiritual Eclipse

A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes behind the earth so that the earth blocks the sun's rays from striking the moon. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, there is always a full moon the night of a lunar eclipse. A lunar eclipse can last for a few hours.

I really like looking at a full moon I think there is something majestic about its beauty. I think it would be quit fascinating to see a lunar eclipse, what a sight to behold.

1 Corinthians 15:41
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.

God did not create the moon for us to worship but rather to see the glory that it brings to us in the earth. The moon is a light-bearer it brings light into the night. When the eclipse takes place the light from the sun that usually shines forth to illuminate the moon will be temporarily block by the earth. When light is blocked or impede then darkness prevails. The only way this interception of light can take place is that the earth, which is naturally dark, comes in between the two forms of light. Can you see the spiritual parallel? When something dark wants to block light from getting to something or someone it will try to align itself so that it is in the middle to impede the light from shining through.

Darkness can come in many forms for instance it can come as a word, image or thought. This word, image or thought is sent to block light. When we agree or align ourselves with this wrong thought, image or word we then allow it to block light.

God may be trying to get answers and direction to you so that you can go forward and fulfill His plan and purposes in your life but that dark word, image or thought stands in the way. The kingdom of darkness may have sent a word, thought or image of failure, disgust, pride, envy, jealousy, disappointment, anger, infidelity, etc., causing a delay in progress, you can’t go forward because there is no light shining in the path. However you must be aggressive and never let the darkness step in between you and the light.

Let the light shine and prevent eclipses in your life!

Following Through

Proverbs 15:4

In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

Integrity defined
• The quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards.

Boundaries are established through integrity.

If a person’s word is no good then the boundaries and standards they set up in their lives will always be compromised. Sometimes we fail to see the long term problems that come with not keeping our word even to ourselves. We tell ourselves we are not going to do such and such or that we are not going to go here or there and before the sun sets we have compromise or faltered on what we have spoken. We reason that it is okay because it was a personal promise and did not involve anyone else. However, little do we realize we are establishing patterns of mistrust and lying in our minds, which deceive our own hearts and minds as well as others around us.

Christian's should be people with integrity; we must learn through training and practical application,  to keep our word regardless of who the word was spoken to. Of course, there will be times when you spoke something or promised to do something and for whatever reason, you had to postpone or apologize for not being able to do what you said. This however, is not an excuse for shabby, lackadaisical living.

The scripture above states that we should be willing to keep our word even if it hurts. Temporary inconveniences are a small thing compared to the consequences of a broken promise. When we lightly esteem our own words, we devalue the importance of our words; thereby, opening the door to deception.

Words are very important. We must remember the power of life and death is in our words. Let us all endeavor to come up a little higher in our integrity by keeping our word even if it is to our own hurt.

If you don’t plan on doing it.... then don’t say it.

Seeking the Honor that Comes from God Only

2Corinthians 6:4-10 (AMP)
But we commend ourselves in every way as [true] servants of God: through great endurance, in tribulation and suffering, in hardships and privations, in sore straits and calamities, In beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless watching, hunger; By innocence and purity, knowledge and spiritual insight, longsuffering and patience, kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in unfeigned love; By [speaking] the word of truth, in the power of God, with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand [to attack] and for the left hand [to defend]; Amid honor and dishonor; in defaming and evil report and in praise and good report. [We are branded] as deceivers (impostors), and [yet vindicated as] truthful and honest. [We are treated] as unknown and ignored [by the world], and [yet we are] well-known and recognized [by God and His people]; as dying, and yet here we are alive; as chastened by suffering and [yet] not killed; As grieved and mourning, yet [we are] always rejoicing; as poor [ourselves, yet] bestowing riches on many; as having nothing, and [yet in reality] possessing all things.

Honor defined:
• Strong moral character or strength, and adherence to ethical principles.
• Great respect and admiration.
• Personal dignity and integrity, that sometimes leads to recognition and glory.

In the above scriptures Paul talked about some weighty things. It is never pleasant to go through temptations, test or trials, yet amid them our God will never leave us nor forsake us. Paul talked about honor and dishonor. Isn’t it amazing how a person can be honored by someone one hour and dishonored the very next minute by someone else. Honor can be toxic if it is not filtered through Christ. We must not seek to be honored by others because we set ourselves up for disappointment and discouragement. When we become distraught, depressed and confused because of a lack of honor from others this only reveals that we had our priorities all wrong. When we choose to look to human-kind for approval, acceptance and validation then we spiritually disarm ourselves and like Sampson find ourselves lying on the lap of the enemy, shaven and without power.

Jesus said, “I receive not honour from men” John 5:41.

Jesus was not a slave to the opinions of people. He was not moved off course by their approval or disapproval of Him. The scriptures said, “But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.” John 2:24-25

Jesus knew the corruptness of human nature. He knew that the nature of man was selfish. A person who is controlled by selfishness will not honor you without strings attached. The honor that they give is tainted and not genuine, it is false, a mere facade. There will be times when your good is evil spoken of. There will be times when people try to defame and smear your good name to try to dishonor you. There will be times when seemingly for no apparent reason people began to despise and reject you, casting you off to the side like a dried up piece of meat. Don’t take it personal, it’s just the devil working through them trying to get you to give up, cave in and quit. The devil has trapped and shipwrecked many a soul through dishonor. Dishonor can buckle a man or woman to their knees quicker than a Karate kick to the abdomen. Dishonor has its roots in betrayal. Betrayal can leave a person feeling violated, striped, exposed, and weak both spiritually and physically.

Jesus said, “How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?" John 5:44 Seeking the honor of men is a product of unbelief. Unbelief is a sign of spiritual weakness and retardation. We are not growing properly as Christians when we harbor unbelief. Faith in God is what we need to grow and flourish properly.

When we are dishonored by others, this is a demonic attack to try to ambush our faith. But be of good cheer, God did not leave His people without a defense against such a monster.

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalms 107:20

The word of God can equip you and fortify you against any attack of dishonor. The word of God in you will never back up in defeat, it will always pursue then conqueror and subdue your enemies. The word of God will establish you so that you will only seek the honor that comes from God; everything else is just a cheap imitation. The word of God will cause you to be unmovable, unshakable, and unbreakable. But in order for this to happen we must make the word of God a high priority in our lives. We must take the time to allow the Holy Spirit to download the word in our hearts. This does not just happen through brief methodical readings of the scripture. We must lock in and engage our spirit, soul and body in the word of God. We must submerge ourselves and take long soaks in the word of Life.

You are a vessel of honor don’t be disillusioned by the picture the devil is showing you in his mirror of deception. Square your shoulders back and walk tall, God will honor you before all. Keep the faith don’t give in, you win!

God Can and God Will!

Luke 1:45
And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Now of course you know that this verse applies to both male and female. Just thought that I would make that clear right from the start.

Elizabeth said something very profound in this verse of scripture; it was a declaration of faith in God. Blessed is he/she that BELIEVES, what God has said.

Do you believe? Life is meaningless if we don’t believe God. Life is chaotic when we don’t believe God. Life is dangerous and deadly when we don’t believe God.

God is our Father, if we are going to believe anybody it should be Him. God will never lie to us or make promises that He cannot or will not fulfill. Our Father can be trusted with anything and all things.

What has God spoken to you about your life and purpose? You can trust Him to make good on what He has said but we must believe what He has said. God can and He will do what He has promised you, only believe.

The scripture says, “And [so] the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed in (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on) God, and this was accounted to him as righteousness (as conformity to God's will in thought and deed), and he was called God's friend.” James 2:23 (AMP)

You too can believe and see His plans and purposes for your life fulfilled.

Pressing the Right Buttons

There are many buttons on a computer keyboard that have different functions. There are buttons that take you forward and buttons that take you backwards. There are buttons that can delete and buttons whereby you can escape.

On our earth journey there are many buttons we can push to help us go forward or take us backwards. For instance when we live by faith in God, we always make tremendous progress toward our destinies end. Paul tells us in his writing that he fought a good fight and that fight was a fight of faith which resulted in him finishing his course. This proves to us that faith in God will cause you to go forward. However, we can opt. to press the fear button which will always take you backwards.

Fear is a hindrance to our faith in God. If you choose to allow fear in your life it will ensnare you and cause you to lose courage and shrink back in terror. God did not call us to be soldiers so that we could just hide out in the fox holes of life. God wants us to be bold and courageous, on the front lines, marching in step and on time with His plans.

There are also delete and escape buttons in life. Many times when people don't want to deal with hard situations, fiery darts from the wicked and storms of life they try to escape. They fill their lives with amusements and various entertainments to try to forget the problem. Sometimes people try to escape through drugs, alcohol, sex, food, gambling or other different vices. However the escape button never can get rid of the problem it only builds a smoke screen so that the problem is temporarily hidden from your view.

When the smoke evaporates the problems is still there, sometime worse than before. The scripture says, “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;" Hebrews 2:3.

The only true terminator of life's troubles is the Word of God. God has provided for us everything we need to have good success in this life however it is our responsibility not to neglect our help.
Life is short, so make sure you push the right buttons, so that you will end up, at the right place, at the right time and fulfill your God given destiny!

DELETED

On most keyboards and computer options, there is a delete button which gives a person the choice to erase what they see.

Delete defined:
• To score out or erase something that is printed or written.

This mean we can totally obliterate something from our files or disk just by the mere push of a button. When you delete something, there is no trace or memory of it. As a matter of fact, if that was the only copy of it, it would be hard to prove it even existed.

Hebrews 10:16-18 NLT
This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds. Then he says, I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds. And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.

God has deleted things (sins and lawless deeds) from your past and mine. He has totally erased them from our history. The words "never again remember" have the same meaning as "delete". God has erased the bad and downloaded the good. Oh, I’m so glad for that heavenly delete button, aren’t you?

All the plans and strategies the devil plotted against me to destroy me were all deleted in an instant. The enemy thought he could destroy me because of my past sins, but glory to God they were all deleted in the blood of Jesus. There is no trace or memory of them, as a matter of fact, it’s as though they never existed. Hallelujah! Deleted by the blood! Deleted by the Blood!

The wonderful thing about this delete button is that it works against all the enemies weapons and destructive strategies. When he attempts to flood your mind with ungodly thoughts and imaginations, just go ahead and press that delete button. When he tries to put sickness and disease on your body just go ahead and push that delete button. When the enemy tries to thwart the plans and purposes of God in your life just go ahead an press the button. Our button represents the name of Jesus, the Word of God, and the power of the Holy Spirit. These all agree for your victory. So don’t hesitate to press your delete button and live free from the weights and sins sent by your enemy.

Praise the Lord God Almighty!
