The Strength of Joy

 Nehemiah 8:10

Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

The joy of the Lord is a vital asset in the lives of all Christian's, and a tremendous support to all who come in contact with it through the lives of Christians. The scriptures declare that God's joy is our strength. Joy is from God. It is a gift that should never be left unopened.

John 15:11 reveals to us that it is the will of God  that Jesus' joy remain in us and that our joy be full. "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.".  This is vital to the daily victory and success of Christians. Joy is supernatural and it comes from God, therefore it is powerful, light, life and strategic in our lives and for our lives. The joy of the Lord in you can be seen by others in the world, giving them hope and motivation for personal triumph.

In Acts 20:24, it is written, " But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God." Paul was persuaded that the joy of the Lord was present in his life to help him finish his course with the correct attitude and life-style.

These words of Paul, resound courage and strength; guiding and supporting a life-style of continued joy.  Finishing our course with joy demands that we lay aside all complaining, weariness, discouragement and doubt. It commands Christians to live and reach for the higher life that Jesus paved for us through His live, death, burial and resurrections. He is our example, if we want to please God our Father.

When things in life seem to go array, the first thing that we seem to compromise is our joy. What a wrong, misguided chose. Joy is our strength and was given to us by God to be a help during times of distress and temptation.

Joy is a fruit of the Spirit, and vital to life. In the human body we have vital organs that we cannot live on the earth without. Our bodies require a heart; we cannot live without one. If the heart shuts down the body will die. When the heart is diseased or only functioning at 40-50%, it negatively impacts the whole body. The word vital is defined as being extremely important and necessary, or indispensable to the survival or continuing effectiveness of something.
The joy of the Lord that resides within our spirit is indispensable. You must never under estimate its worth, nor try to face life without it.

It is our prayer and sincere desire, here at Harris Ministries International, that your life be a continual reservoir and home for God's joy, as it will supply you with all the necessary strength you need to accomplish the will of God in your life, all the days of your life.  John declares in 3 John 1:4, I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Let the joy of the Lord live big in you today and everyday!
