Have you ever seen one of those old western movies on TV or police series from the 1980’s, whenever they arrested someone, they first commanded the person to stop, then drop their weapon, and then lift their hands up in the air to indicate total surrender. This person had been apprehended and was now taken in for questioning.
Arrest defined:
• to seize or detain something by legal authority
• to stop or slow something
• to suddenly capture and hold something, especially somebody's attention
Did you not know God has the legal right to arrest His people? When we give our lives to Christ, we legally belong to Him, not as a slave but as free.
1Corinthians 19-20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Because God purchased us He has a right to arrest us when we are possessin’ or packin’ things on or in our person that would be harmful or dangerous to others and ourselves. God has a legal right to seize you when you are carrying cares or worrying about what tomorrow may bring. He has a right to say, “Stop, in the name of the Lord, drop that care, put your hands up in the air and surrender!
He has a right to stop you or slow you down when you are spiritually, so to speak, driving wrecklessly at dangerously high speeds through the highways of life, with no direction or revelation of your God given purpose. When you are making repeated wrong decisions from your human reasoning or livng life in the flesh and not in the spirit, you need to be apprehended. God has a right to say, “Stop, pull over, you’re out of control, this car will be impounded for the next 30 days.”
Aren't you glad for Divine interruptions? Many times through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God or through mere personal bible study and meditation, God has arrested me for my own good and safety.
All arrest aren’t bad, even in the natural, they sometimes save lives from the immature and destructive behaviors of others. Many police officers have pulled over drunken drivers because they were swerving in and out of their lanes. A night spent in jail for them probably saved their life and the lives of many others.
God loves you and wants the best for you. He is Father and watches over us affectionately. In order for us to arrive safely at our Divine Destinies we must continue to give God our undivided attention. Our lives and futures are important to God so don’t live life wrecklessly; without aim or direction. We must seek to lay hold of the thing for which Christ apprehended us for.
It’s time to grow up, stand up and take our rightful place as the mature sons of God. Stay on track, pick-up the slack, and don’t even think about lookin back!
Stay watchful, Stay alert, Drive safely………………Pay attention!
And let us not be offended when we have been spiritually rear ended but let us realize the driver was probably not paying attention.
