GREAT EXPECTATIONS!

Psalms 62:5

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

Expectation defined:
• A confident belief or strong hope that a particular event will happen.

When a young woman is pregnant many will use the term, “she is expecting,” in reference to the upcoming delivery of her child. Due to the level of intimacy of the couple, a child was conceived and now others, including the couple are patiently waiting on the arrival of the child. They are all confident that this baby will arrive at the expected time. Expectations are generally conceived from information, good or bad.
The woman with the issue of blood in the Bible had an expectation that she would be healed upon touching the hem of Jesus’ garment. What was it that fueled her confident belief? The women had been given information about Jesus and what He could do. This knowledge of God produced the necessary faith or belief that she could receive her miracle.
What you hear or listen to on a daily basis can be the catalyst to your expectations in life. Do you expect good to come your way today or are you looking for evil things to plague your day? Do you see yourself as a failure or as more than a conqueror? Do you expect people to show you favor or do you expect people to dislike you? Psalms 62:5 reminded us how to expect great things in life. The Psalmist said, “My soul wait thou only upon God…” When we spend time in God’s presence and in His word we will receive the right information that produces right expectations. When we choose to wait on God, His words will produce the confident trust we need to obtain the desired results.
Misinformation or incomplete information can produce frustration and disappointment. A person maybe disappointed with God, thinking He did not produce or come through in a situation like they expected He would. Well, first of all, check out who gave you the information by which you have established your expectations. Was your expectation produced from what you read in the Bible or was it misquoted or misinterpreted hear -say of something somebody thought God said? The scriptures instruct us to study to show ourselves approved; we should not be rooting our confidence in he said/ she said conversations. Disappointment can destroy confidence and cause a person to draw back from God. Before you put high stakes in what somebody told you, search the scriptures for yourself and know the truth, through personal intimacy and fellowship with God. What is conceived in you through personal intimacy with God will produce GREAT EXPECTATIONS, which will soon deliver GREAT RESULTS.
Numbers 23:19, God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
