Today I was preparing some of my traditional dishes for our family's Thanksgiving dinner. One of the cakes that I baked came out of the oven looking very tasty and quite pretty but within minutes it began to look like something from a horror movie. I thought to myself what in the world happened but because I have been baking for many years I did not fret. I knew that sometimes the ugliest cakes taste the best. I was not concerned about the outward appearance I just wanted to be sure all the ingredients were working together to bring forth a delightful experience to my taste buds. This particular cake is my youngest daughters’ favorite, it is a red velvet cake, and my oldest daughter likes the German chocolate cake so of course I generally bake both cakes for the holidays.
We sampled the cake to be sure it was up to standard and of course it was delicious. Although the outward appearance was somewhat unpleasant to behold the ingredients made up the difference.
So as you go about your day don’t forget to never judge a book by its cover but rather open it and sample the contents, you may be quite surprised at the inner treasures you find inside.
