Are you Listening?

1Corinthians 14:1-11
There are, I suppose, all these many [to us unknown] tongues in the world [somewhere], and none is destitute of [its own power of] expression and meaning.

But if I do not know the force and significance of the speech (language), I shall seem to be a foreigner to the one who speaks [to me], and the speaker who addresses [me] will seem a foreigner to me.

Listening, listening, always listening

God is speaking are you listening? The bible says there are many voices in the world and none are without significance but if you don’t understand the dialect of the one speaking, it will be strange or foreign to you. Every born again believer should be familiar with God’s voice. Even at a whisper we know it’s Him. Familiarity comes from intimacy, union and close relationship. When you are around someone a lot you become very acquainted with not only the sound of their voice but also the way they communicate and the choice of words they select to correspond with others. God has provided a way that we can hear Him speak to us every day. One way God communicates with us is through His word. When we spend time fellowshipping with God by studying His word, learning His character, His nature, His ways, and His heart we begin to cultivate and sharpen, by grace, our ability to recognize Him more quickly and clearly.

Acts 22:14
And he said, The God of our forefathers has destined and appointed you to come progressively to know His will [to perceive, to recognize more strongly and clearly, and to become better and more intimately acquainted with His will], and to see the Righteous One (Jesus Christ, the Messiah), and to hear a voice from His [own] mouth and a message from His [own] lips;

  1. Yes, God does continually speak to us. Are you tuned in to his station enough to know when he is speaking to you. Or are there other radio transmissions that are coming in loud and clear that you focus on them versus the still small and quiet voice of God, that will ever so slightly nudge you so to speak with a word from heaven. Often times we can miss it over the glare and clutter of all the really loud voices that are clamouring for us to hear
